Latest Updates from Our Project:

Update #3: Media, Factory, & Incentives
over 8 years ago – Fri, Jan 29, 2016 at 12:16:46 PM

Hello Again Everyone...

In our last update we mentioned that all future updates were going to be published to Backers only. Since then we’ve done some research and listened to people who have crowdfunded before...and it seems like that’s a bad idea. We want to be transparent with everything that’s going on so everybody gets the same sense of confidence throughout our project. That being said, there will still likely be a few updates to reward our current backers (like this weekend…hint hint) and we’ll make those Backer only updates.

Now on to the fun stuff!

1) We are over 60% funded in only 8 days ... AMAZING ... thanks to our new found friends and backers it has been a very exciting week. We cannot say thank you enough for your support!!!

 2) We have had over 25 press articles written about us to date, and growing daily. You can find a complete list at http://www.opentheoutlet.com/testimonials/ The "new" major ones since the last update are publications like Maxim, Gizmag, HiConsumption, and Ubergizmo. The press and consumer acceptance is amazing, so keep spreading the word.

 3) We have launched an incentive program for all referrals as well. Any current backer referring a new backer to our community (the backer will need to tell us you referred them) will get a commemorative 24 oz tumbler, free of charge, with our compliments.

 4) We are planning a Super Bowl Event as well, so stay tuned for theOUTlet Bowl!!!

5) We have announced our USB stretch goal at only $45k of funding. At our current pace, we will achieve that goal next week. VERY exciting times. By the way, our USB prototype should arrive next week from the factory and we’ll send out images once we've had a chance to play with it.

6) Which brings us to the factory. We recently visited our manufacturing facility in China and toured their PCBA, molding, engineering and assembly lines. (A few pictures below) We are VERY confident and pleased with everything we saw and are prepared for a fast delivery of theOUTlet to all of our backers.

Keep spreading the word ... and don't forget to Open the Possibilities

One last thing… We saw a project on Kickstarter that’s ending soon and it sort of resonated with us because we’re from South Florida and we see all kinds of people that should be paying more attention to the health of their skin. The project is called QTemp (Click Here) and it’s on its last couple days of its campaign so you can still jump into the deal if you’re interested. Take a look!

Update #2: Stretch Goals
over 8 years ago – Fri, Jan 29, 2016 at 06:23:14 AM

Hello Everyone!

This is the last update we plan to do that’s visible to everyone. Our updates going forward will just be visible to our backers (so join the secret club!). First we want to thank all of our earliest backers. You all have helped us get to nearly 50% of our funding goal in under 6 days. That’s pretty awesome… Second, we think it’s time to reveal the details of our stretch goals so it’s a little more clear for everyone.  So here’s the deal:

Stretch Goal #1: USB Upgrade - $45K Funding Goal

We know…many of you are anxiously waiting for the USB version to be unlocked (we are too)! That’s why we’ve decided to make it the first stretch goal instead of the second, and we’re making it VERY achievable. Once we reach this stretch goal there will be two ways to get theOUTlet w/2 USB’s.

1. Increase your current pledge by $7 for every theOUTlet that you want to upgrade.  a. This means that if you backed The Room (3 pack) you could add $7 to your pledge and receive 2 Non-USB versions and 1 USB version. Or add $14 and receive 2 USB versions and 1 Non-USB version. Get the idea? If not, we’re here to answer questions.

2. Back our new USB tiers (added once we hit stretch goal)                                              a. These are going to start at the regular Non-USB price of $30 plus $7/ea ($37/pcs). So no one is losing out, but if you back one of the Super or Early Bird packages and upgrade to the USB, you’re going to get a better price! So it pays to get there early…

Stretch Goal #2: Colored Faceplates - $55K Funding Goal

We’ve had a number of people reach out to us before backing to see if we were going to have certain colors available so this has been a pretty popular request. We’re going to add three colors of faceplates to our campaign (at $55k of funding), we just don’t know which ones yet because you haven’t told us! We’re going to release another update to just our backers during the third week of our campaign showing color options and ask you to respond with your favorite three colors in the comments section of our campaign (Kickstarter doesn’t allow actual surveys until the project is over. So this is the best way for us to get feedback directly from you). We’ll tally all the results and post them on our campaign page for everyone to see!

Finally, to wrap things up, we want to share some updates on PR. Here are some new places we’ve been covered: Gadgetify, Gear Hungry, Passive Tech, and The Awesomer. Oh yea and did we mention that one of the Co-Executive Producers from Shark Tank reached out to us?  Yep, they did… :)

Our First 24 Hours on Kickstarter!
over 8 years ago – Sat, Jan 23, 2016 at 08:44:57 AM

WOW!! We’ve had an exciting 24 hours since we launched! We’ve reached 25% of our funding goal in 24 hours, we’ve sold out of the Super Early Bird Basic Package, sold out of the Super Early Bird Room Package, and on a more personal note some of our best friends had a brand new baby girl this morning (Happy Birthday Ava)!

This past week we also received our latest prototype and it looks great! Included in this update is a short video so you can see it opening and see how it fits into a cutaway electrical box. We've had a lot of questions about how much space this takes up in the wall and if the spring force would be enough to truly open effectively, so hopefully this gives everyone a good idea.

We want to thank everyone who has backed us so far and express our gratitude for any sharing you’ve done for our campaign. Every new set of eyes on our project helps us get closer to our funding goal and the reality of getting theOUTlet into your hands! During the first week of our campaign we’re going to reveal the funding required to unlock our stretch goals. So keep an eye out for that update and help us unlock the USB upgrade and colored faceplates by sharing our campaign with everyone you know!

Also check out our mentions on GizmodoTech Times, and The Gadget Flow!

Regards,

theOUTlet Team
